How memes promote porn

You may have come across this image in meme blogs, sometimes with a translation and backstory. This is a screenshot of a post by user X (ex-Twitter) from Japan, which quickly went viral on social networks.

A guy under the nickname Zayne718 said that he found clips with his ex-girlfriend on the local analog of Pornhub – porn site Fanza. He was very upset about it, and also posted a couple more photos of his ex-girlfriend with sad captions.

Fortunately or unfortunately, this story is completely made up. Fanza channels often use memes as a promotional method: they release a video, make up a backstory and spread it from several supposedly unrelated accounts.

The result is instant – within a week, the original tweet has racked up a million views. After that, such accounts reveal themselves: Zayne718 is already openly posting porn actresses and links to videos as if nothing had happened. Reddit users noticed this and quickly debunked this fake.

The actress in the photo is Yumi Nijimura (虹村ゆみ), and she has been starring in porn since at least early 2024. Specifically these shots are from a video called SMJS-102.

Many of Yumi’s scenes involve cheating (a popular topic in Japan), for example, in one movie she leaves an asshole boyfriend for a handsome baseball player.
